PlatoFit Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026 · Applies to the PlatoFit apps for iPhone and Android.

PlatoFit is a training, nutrition and sleep tracker. We built it to keep your data on your phone first. We don't show ads, we don't sell your data, and we don't use tracking or advertising SDKs.

Who is responsible

Charalampos Strinopoulos, Wolfstraat 146, 6531 LR Nijmegen, the Netherlands — the "controller" under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Contact: support@platofit.app.

Without an account

You can use PlatoFit without an account. Your workouts, diary, programs, weight, water, sleep, badges and settings are stored only on your phone. We don't receive them.

If you add a food to the shared community database, or look one up by barcode, the app talks to our server. When you add a food, the app creates an anonymous, random account ID so the food can be linked to you (for example to show you its votes). No name or email is attached to it. Anonymous accounts with no data are deleted automatically after 90 days without use.

With an account (optional)

If you sign in with Google or Apple, we store your account email and an account ID, and we keep a copy of your PlatoFit data so it syncs between your phones: workouts and sets, custom exercises, foods and diary entries, staple meals, programs, the weight, water and sleep you type in, badges, goals and settings.

Health data

Camera and photos

The camera is used to scan barcodes and to read nutrition labels. Both happen on your phone. If you are signed in and choose to attach a photo of a nutrition label to a community food, that photo is uploaded so the entry can be checked; it is visible only to you in the app.

"How did you hear about PlatoFit?"

The first time you open the app we ask this once. Answering is optional. Only your answer (for example "TikTok"), the platform (iPhone or Android) and the date are sent, without any account, device or advertising ID, so it can't be linked to you. We use the totals to know where people find PlatoFit.

Community foods and Open Food Facts

Foods you share with the community (name, brand, barcode, nutrition values, serving sizes) can be seen by other PlatoFit users. They are never shown with your name or account. Votes and reports you make are stored with your account ID so each person counts once; other users can't see who voted.

Part of the food database was imported from Open Food Facts (© Open Food Facts contributors, ODbL). The app does not contact Open Food Facts and sends it no data about you.

Why we use your data (legal bases)

PurposeLegal basis (GDPR)
Running the app, your account and syncContract (Art. 6(1)(b))
Health-related data you sync, and anonymous statistics computed from itExplicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a))
Community food database, preventing spam and abuse, securityLegitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f))
Usage statistics: totals and averages across all accounts, such as new and active accounts per week, how many people use each feature, typical workout length, average calories per day, average sleep, or the typical strength on an exerciseLegitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f))

Usage statistics are calculated on our server, inside the database, as totals across all accounts. We never look at one person's entries for them and we never export individual records. Results only show groups of at least 5 people (averages and correlations at least 10), and a list such as "most logged foods" only includes items used by at least 3 different people. We use them to improve PlatoFit and don't sell or share them. Without an account none of your data is included.

Who processes data for us

We don't sell or rent personal data and we don't share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Data in your account is kept until you delete it or delete your account. Settings → Account → Delete account removes your account and your synced data. Without the app, see platofit.app/delete-account. Community foods you shared stay available to others but are no longer linked to you. Backups held by our database provider are removed on their normal schedule.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your data, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Most of this you can do in the app; for anything else (for example a copy of your data) write to support@platofit.app. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl) or your local supervisory authority.

California residents: we don't sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA.

Children

PlatoFit is not intended for children under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from them.

Security

All connections use TLS. Access rules on our server make sure each account can only reach its own data. The app contains no secret keys. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password for your Google or Apple account.

Not medical advice

Calorie targets, estimates and other numbers in PlatoFit are for general fitness information only and are not medical advice. Talk to a doctor before changing your diet or training if you have a health condition.

Terms

Using PlatoFit is also subject to our Terms of Service.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
